The Bauer Leaders Academy recently hosted a dynamic Introduction to Leadership workshop, to explore foundational leadership concepts and discover their personal leadership styles.
The workshop kicked off with an introduction to “lollipop leadership,” a concept that highlights the profound impact small, meaningful actions can have on others. From there, students delved into the WashU definition of leadership, which emphasizes mobilizing and inspiring people to achieve shared goals.
One of the key features of the session was an exploration of Daniel Goleman’s six leadership styles: Visionary, Coaching, Affiliative, Democratic, Pacesetting, and Commanding. Students participated in an assessment to uncover which leadership style aligned with their natural tendencies, offering insights into their strengths and potential growth areas.
The session wasn’t just about learning—it was about doing. Students actively engaged in group discussions, activities, and real-time problem-solving exercises designed to help them practice leadership in action.
By the end of the workshop, students walked away with a deeper understanding of leadership and how their unique styles can contribute to effective collaboration and meaningful change.
